#EU2027LT: Lithuanian Customs Strengthens Cooperation with Greek and Irish Customs Administrations Ahead of EU Council Presidency

On 3 July, at the invitation of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue, the third meeting of the Ireland-Lithuania-Greece Presidency was organised in Athens, Greece. Ireland, the first member of the Presidency Trio, assumed the Presidency of the Council of the European Union on 1 July 2026 for a six-month term.

Representatives of Lithuanian Customs participated in the meeting, during which the parties discussed current issues related to preparations for assuming the Presidency of the Council of the EU and the priorities of the Presidency Trio. During the meeting lessons learned from the Greek Customs Administration’s Experience during previous EU Presidencies were presented. Future chairs of the EU Council working groups in the field of customs from Lithuania, Ireland, and Greece, along with members of the presidency teams, reviewed key legislative initiatives and further cooperation to ensure the smooth functioning of the Presidency Trio.

As part of the meeting, the Lithuanian and Irish Customs delegations were presented with the activities of the Operations Control Room at the General Directorate of Financial Transaction Audit Forces. The participants were introduced to the risk management process and the activities of the Operations Control Room.
